Key workers are not heroes, 

who spring forth from a secret base

Nor are they super-powered,

God-like beings, from outer space. 

 

Key workers are simple humans, 

with humble wants and needs. 

No, key workers are not heroes;

Yet they perform heroic deeds. 

 

They don't want to wear their super-suits,

Their capes and masks and gloves;

they want to do their demanding jobs,

then go home to see their loves. 

 

Key workers, just like you and I, 

Wish to return home safe each day.

So if we really want to thank them, 

let's get them better pay.
